Lagavulin Fireside Tales is a 12 year old Islay single malt, the distillery's bottling in the 2024 Diageo Special Releases ('Spirited Xchange Second Edition'). It is bottled at a natural cask strength of 57.4% in a 750ml bottle, non-chill-filtered and with no added colouring. The whisky is built around first-fill ex-bourbon barrels, unusual for Lagavulin, blended with refill American oak hogsheads and refill European oak butts by master blender Dr Stuart Morrison. The aim was to tame the smoke into sweetness. The nose is a smouldering bonfire on a distant beach, with wood ash, carbolic soap and rowan jelly. The palate is creamy and very sweet at first, then drying, with a little salt and controlled smoke. The finish is long, smoky and drying, with warming spice.

About Glenbotal

The idea of Glenbotal came to us naturally: as whisky lovers, we were always on the lookout for new experiences in the whisky world. That’s why we created Glenbotal and became our very own first customers. We buy unique and hard to find spirits from ballots and private collections. Then, we share them with a small circle of friends and people who can appreciate a good dram.
