Lagavulin The Lion's Jewel is a 26 year old single malt Scotch whisky from a 1994 vintage, in a 70cl bottle. It was matured in first-fill sherry-seasoned casks, both Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso, and has a deep colour with brown and red hints.
The nose is smoky and sweet, with tar, dried meat, leather, boat varnish, cloves, red berries and plums. On the palate come salty notes, sour berries, mint, brine and pipe tobacco, with scorched wood in the background. The finish is long and warm, with bonfire ashes, cold coffee, ginger and herbal tea.
