Laizhou Bourbon Cask is a peated single malt from Laizhou Distillery in Qionglai, Sichuan province, China. It is made only from Scottish malt with a phenol content of 25 to 40 ppm.
The whisky matures entirely in first-fill American oak casks that previously held bourbon. It is bottled at 50% in a 70cl bottle, non-chill-filtered and without added colour. Vanilla and ripe stone fruit lead, with roasted malt, lightly smoked bacon and creamy pastry alongside the smoke.
The nose combines soft vanilla, yellow peach, ripe apricot, cream and white blossom under a fine veil of smoke. The finish is warm and lasting, with roasted malt, a touch of tobacco and spice.
