Laphroaig 10 Year Old Cask Strength is an Islay single malt Scotch whisky matured for ten years in first-fill and refill ex-bourbon barrels. It is bottled at natural cask strength, between 56 and 60% ABV depending on the batch, in a 750ml bottle.
Laphroaig has worked on the south coast of Islay since 1815 and still malts part of its own barley on site. The malt is peated in the kiln for 18 hours.
Peat smoke leads the nose, with medicinal notes, vanilla, sea salt and iodine. The palate is smoky, with brine, pear, malt sweetness and black pepper. The finish is long and oily, with charred oak, leather and smoked mackerel.
