Laphroaig 10 Year Old is a single malt Scotch whisky from Islay, in a 70cl bottle. It is the distillery's classic expression, matured for ten years.
The barley is germinated and then dried over a peat fire, and the smoke from that peat gives the whisky its character. The colour is gold.
The nose is briny and very smoky, with peat and liquorice. On the palate a surprising sweetness comes first, then the sea returns with iodine notes. The finish is almost salty, with a lingering memory of peat smoke.
