Laphroaig – 10 Year Old Original Cask Strength Batch 011 (75cl, 58.6%)

This is the eleventh batch of Laphroaig's annual 10 Year Old Original Cask Strength release, an Islay single malt bottled in March 2019 at 58.6% ABV. It was matured for a minimum of ten years in first fill ex-bourbon casks and is bottled non-chill filtered and with natural colour. Batch 011 brought back the green stripe on the front label and outer tin, a detail last used in the early 2000s. The nose is sweet and coastal, with malt, sea spray, lemon, antiseptic and peat, along with sherry, vanilla ice cream and eucalyptus smoke. The palate is full and intense, with citrus, brine, peat smoke, charred oak and liquorice. The finish is long, sweet and medicinal, with white pepper and lemon.
