This is Laphroaig's 10 year old single malt from Islay, bottled at 40% in a 70cl bottle. It is matured in American oak casks.
The barley is dried over a fire of Islay peat, and the distillery's position close to the sea is said to add a salty edge to the whisky.
The nose brings tar, burnt tyres, a dusty bookshelf, seaweed, peat and smoke. On the palate it is strong and wild, with seaweed and peat smoke, a mild sweetness and touches of salt.
