Laphroaig 10 Year Old is an Islay single malt from the 1980s, bottled by the distillery at 43% in a full 1 litre bottle. The label reads "Unblended" Scotch Whisky, the pre-1990 wording for single malt, and this version was released for the French market.
The nose is medicinal and iodine-led, with heavy coastal peat smoke, sea salt, carbolic soap and tarry rope over softer vanilla and damp wood. The palate brings intense phenolic smoke, brine, dark chocolate and an antiseptic note above malt sweetness. The finish is long, peaty and drying, with seaweed and ash.
