This is a 10 year old Islay single malt from Laphroaig, bottled at cask strength in a 70cl bottle.
It is matured in a mix of ex-bourbon oak casks, charred before filling, which adds a light note of sweet vanilla. It is barrier filtered only to remove small particles of charcoal.
The nose is peaty and smoky, with a balsamic touch of menthol and pine needles. The palate is powerful and peaty, with liquorice and citrus, plus eucalyptus and menthol that leave a fresh feel. The finish is long, intense, salty and smoky.
