Laphroaig 15 Year Old is an Islay single malt Scotch whisky, bottled at 43% ABV in a 70cl bottle. This is the bottling from around the distillery's 200th anniversary, the release that returned the 15 year old to the core range.
Fifteen years in oak softens the medicinal peat without taming it.
The nose has bonfire smoke, seaweed and iodine over vanilla, toasted oak and dried citrus. The palate balances maritime peat with honeyed malt, baking spice and a hint of sherry-cask dried fruit, and the finish is long, smoky and warming, with lingering sea salt.
