Laphroaig – 15 Year Old

Laphroaig 15 Year Old is an Islay single malt that left the range in 2010 and returned in the year of the distillery's 200th anniversary. That release was bottled in an outturn of 72,000 bottles. The distillery has a long history of its own. Its whisky was sold in America during Prohibition for medicinal use, and in 1994 it received a royal warrant from Prince Charles, for whose 50th birthday it later filled a cask of this age for the Erskine charity bottling. The nose is mildly medicinal peat smoke with mint, blood orange and vanilla. The palate turns sweeter, with leather, caramel and vanilla over softer peat. The finish combines smoke and sweet fruit.
