Laphroaig – 18 Year Old (70cl, 48%)

An 18 year old single malt Scotch whisky from Laphroaig, in a 70cl bottle at 48% abv. It is no longer in production. It was bottled at 48% and only barrier filtered, to keep the full flavour. The long maturation is said to give a smooth character alongside Laphroaig's peat smoke. The colour is bright gold. The nose offers sweet toffee, faint spice, delicate phenols and fruit, with new mown hay and peat at the end. The palate brings peat smoke, floral notes, oaky nuttiness and lasting sweetness. The finish is long and full bodied, with an oily smoothness.
