Laphroaig – 18 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky (70cl, 48%)

This is Laphroaig 18 Year Old, a single malt Scotch whisky in a 70cl bottle, bottled at 48% and only barrier filtered. The distillery chose that strength so that none of the flavour is lost. It has since been discontinued. Eighteen years of maturation are balanced against Laphroaig's trademark peat smoke. The colour is bright gold. The nose is sweet toffee, faint spice, delicate phenols and fruit, with new mown hay and peat at the end. The palate offers peat smoke, smooth floral scents, oaky nuttiness and lasting sweetness. The finish is full bodied and long, with an oily smoothness.
