Laphroaig – 2014 Single Amontillado Cask #802279 - Islay Ember - UK Exclusive is a single malt whisky from Laphroaig (Islay). Bottled at 59.6% ABV, 70cl. Founded in 1815, Laphroaig is one of Islay's most distinctive distilleries, famous for its medicinal, phenolic peat smoke. The distillery uses its own floor maltings for part of production and draws water from the Kilbride Stream. Laphroaig's unique flavour—iodine, seaweed, peat, sweetness—has made it both polarising and beloved. Historically run by the Johnston family, it later passed to Allied Domecq and now Beam Suntory. Its loyal fanbase includes the “Friends of Laphroaig,” who receive symbolic land rights on Islay. Laphroaig remains one of the most characterful single malts in the world. Laphroaig 2014 Single Amontillado Cask #802279 “Islay Ember” is an ultra-rare, 10-year-old single malt Scotch whisky that represents a masterclass in full-cask maturation. While many distilleries use sherry casks merely to “finish” a whisky for a few months, this exceptional expression spent its entire decade of maturation inside a single Amontillado sherry butt. Bottled in late 2025 at a powerful cask strength of 59.6% ABV, this UK-exclusive release was limited to a mere 312 bottles, making it an instant crown jewel for collectors and peat enthusiasts alike.

About Glenbotal

The idea of Glenbotal came to us naturally: as whisky lovers, we were always on the lookout for new experiences in the whisky world. That’s why we created Glenbotal and became our very own first customers. We buy unique and hard to find spirits from ballots and private collections. Then, we share them with a small circle of friends and people who can appreciate a good dram.
