This is a 25 year old Islay single malt from Laphroaig, bottled at a cask strength of 53.4% in a 70cl bottle. It was matured in former bourbon and Oloroso sherry casks.
The maturation pairs Laphroaig's rough, peaty character with a mild sweetness.
The nose is restrained and smoky, with sweet vanilla, spicy wood, smoked bacon and a touch of dried fruit. The palate is layered and creamy, with pepper, iodine and peat smoke alongside a hint of green apple. The finish is long, with waves of smoke and a peppery close.
