This is the 2024 release of Laphroaig 30 Year Old, an Islay single malt matured for three decades in oak casks and bottled at 45.8% in a 70cl bottle.
It is an official limited-edition release from the distillery, built on Laphroaig's peated spirit. Thirty years in the cask is said to have softened the usual medicinal peat smoke.
Tasting notes describe coastal minerality, sweet vanilla, tropical fruit, polished oak and warming spice, with dried apricot, honeycomb, dark chocolate, sea salt and a little iodine.
