This is a 30 year old Islay single malt from Laphroaig, in a 70cl bottle at 45.8% ABV.
It was aged for a long time in American oak barrels and in European oak hogsheads and butts that previously held sherry.
The nose is fruity and sweet, with orange and lemon peel, vanilla custard and treacle toffee. On the palate come bergamot, sweet pastries and fresh thyme, with a hint of white pepper. The finish carries smouldering peat smoke and a touch of sooty campfire.
