Laphroaig – 33 Year Old Ian Hunter Book 3 (70cl)

This is a 33 year old single malt from Laphroaig on Islay, the third release in the Ian Hunter Story series. Each release in the series tells part of the story of Ian Hunter, a former owner and distillery manager, and book 3 is dedicated to his passion for protecting the water source during his time there. The whisky was matured exclusively in ex-Bourbon casks, which leave the Laphroaig peat character clear. The nose offers pears, peaches and apricots with a deep, condensed sweetness. The palate brings honey, rose petal and a little nutmeg, ending in ashy, dry peat. The finish is very long, with ashy vanilla and peat alternating.
