This is Laphroaig 33 Year Old, Book 3 of The Ian Hunter Story, a fifteen-part series of aged single malts that marks chapters in the life of Ian Hunter, the last member of the distillery's founding family. Book 3 was launched in 2021.
Laphroaig stands in Kildalton on Islay, alongside Ardbeg and Lagavulin, and is the largest of the three. It was bottling single malt as early as the 1920s, and it still malts some of its own barley in-house, covering about 20% of its yearly needs.
