This is a 34 year old Laphroaig from Islay, released as the Ian Hunter Book 4 edition in a 70cl bottle at 46.2%. It is a limited edition made in honour of Ian Hunter, the last family manager of the distillery.
The colour is deep gold. The nose combines dried fruit and creamy vanilla with peat smoke and a sea breeze. The palate brings sweet spices and dried fruit, with orange peel, nuts and dark chocolate, and Islay peat smoke behind them. The finish is long and warming, balancing sweetness, spice and smoke.
