A 34 year old Laphroaig, matured in ex-bourbon barrels and released as Book 5, the final bottling in the Ian Hunter series. It is a limited edition in honour of Ian Hunter, the last member of the Johnston family to own and run the distillery.
Deep copper in colour, it has a nose of gentle peat, iodine, charred wood, floral malt, cotton candy and vanilla fudge, with hints of berry fruit. The palate is sweet and spicy, with barbecue ash, salted caramel, butterscotch, roasted chestnuts and a touch of peach. The finish is long, with peat, malt, dried flowers, white pepper and lasting sweetness.
