Laphroaig 34 Year Old 'The Ian Hunter Story' Book 4: Malt Master is an Islay single malt bottled at 46.2% ABV in a 750ml bottle. It was distilled in 1987 and bottled in October 2021.
The whisky was matured in American white-oak bourbon barrels and finished in first-fill European oak Oloroso sherry casks. It is the fourth book in Laphroaig's limited series honouring Ian Hunter, and this one marks his founding of the distillery's own maltings and his insistence on floor-malted barley.
The notes describe peat mellowed into medicinal smoke and sea air, with Oloroso depth of dark chocolate, dried figs, walnuts and polished leather, over iodine and salt. The finish is immense and lingering.

The idea of Glenbotal came to us naturally: as whisky lovers, we were always on the lookout for new experiences in the whisky world. That’s why we created Glenbotal and became our very own first customers. We buy unique and hard to find spirits from ballots and private collections. Then, we share them with a small circle of friends and people who can appreciate a good dram.
