Laphroaig 34 Year Old is the fourth volume in the Ian Hunter Story series, a single malt from the 1987 vintage.
It was matured in American white oak ex-bourbon barrels and finished in first-fill European oak ex-oloroso sherry casks, then bottled at 34 years old.
The nose has dried fruit, soft smoke, tobacco leaf, eucalyptus, heather honey, black pepper and cinder toffee. The palate adds barbecued pork, honey, peach, orange blossom, iodine, earthy peat and ashy wood smoke, and these notes linger into the finish.
