Laphroaig 35 Year Old Strong Characters Chapter 2 is an Islay single malt and the second release in a series honouring the people who shaped Laphroaig. This limited edition celebrates Dugald Johnston, son of co-founder Donald Johnston. It is bottled at 43.8% in a 70cl bottle.
Matured only in American white oak ex-bourbon barrels, it shows a softer, more considered side of the distillery. Long maturation has turned the peat smoke creamy and complex, while the Laphroaig character remains.
The nose opens with sweetness, then freshly baked pastry, apple and cherry. The palate is smoky with spice, a creamy mouthfeel and a light note of raisin. The finish lingers with aniseed and a slight peppery tingle, fading back to peat smoke.
