Laphroaig Cairdeas bottled in 2014 is a single malt Scotch whisky at 51.4% abv, in a 70cl bottle. It shows the influence of Amontillado sherry alongside the distillery's classic peat smoke.
The nose combines peat smoke, bonfire ash and iodine with vanilla, marshmallow, salted caramel, orange peel and raisins. The palate is oily and creamy, salty and smoky, with tar, leather and black pepper, then dates, baked apples and fudge. The finish is long and dry, with smoky ash, a salty note, toasted nuts and a hint of dark chocolate.
