Laphroaig Cairdeas Cask Favourites 2024 is a 10-year-old Islay single malt bottled at 52.4% to mark 30 years of the Friends of Laphroaig. Master Blender Calum Fraser combined two earlier Càirdeas editions, the 2019 Triple Wood and the 2021 PX Cask.
The whisky was first matured in over-charred first- and second-fill ex-bourbon and quarter casks, then finished in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks.
The nose has Brazil-nut toffee brittle, vanilla custard and baking spice, with milk-chocolate raisins and spiced orange. The palate is rich, sweet and oily, with smoked orange toffee, stewed peaches, campfire smoke, dried fruit, coffee grounds and liquorice root. The finish is long, slightly sweet and dry, with lingering peppery peat.
