Laphroaig – Cairdeas Cask Strength Quarter Cask 2017

This is the 2017 Cairdeas from Laphroaig, a cask strength single malt matured in quarter casks. The smaller casks bring more contact with American oak and a more intense maturation. It was fully matured in Warehouse No.1, which adds a soft, creamy sweetness alongside the distillery's peat. The nose opens with gentle coffee cream and vanilla pods, moving to sweet mint, old hay, beach bonfire and sanded wood. Full bodied, the palate has a sweet vanilla dryness, then a creamy, oily texture with bitter liquorice root and smoke. The finish is long, creamy and smoky.
