Laphroaig Cairdeas Madeira Cask is an Islay single malt Scotch whisky bottled at 51.6% in a 70cl bottle, made for the Friends of Laphroaig and matured in Madeira casks.
The nose combines medicinal peat smoke, sea salt and ash with red grapes, berry jam, orange zest, toffee and a little pepper. The palate is full, oily and rich, with peat, wood smoke, brine and mineral notes, then cherries, mango and orange marmalade against spicy pepper and bitter cocoa.
The finish is medium to long, with charcoal smoke, tart strawberries and plums, then a herbal aftertaste, toasted nuts, cardamom and a light salty sea breeze.
