Laphroaig – Cairdeas Origin 2012 (70cl, 51.2%)

Laphroaig Cairdeas Origin 2012 is a single malt Scotch whisky from Islay, bottled at 51.2% in a 70cl bottle. The nose combines sweet, medicinal peat smoke with iodine, sea salt and tar, over vanilla, icing sugar and tropical fruit such as pineapple, apricot and grapefruit. On the palate it is medium to full, creamy and oily, with intense peat, dry ash, fudge, shortbread and a citrus note of lemon, then white pepper and ginger. The alcohol is well integrated. The finish is long and warm, with ashy barbecue smoke and sea salt, turning to chocolate, honey and spiced oak.
