Laphroaig Cairdeas Warehouse 1 2022 is a cask strength Islay single malt, bottled at 52.2% in a 75cl bottle. It is the 2022 edition of Laphroaig's annual Cairdeas release, made for the Islay Festival, Fèis Ìle.
The whisky matured only in first-fill ex-Maker's Mark bourbon casks kept in Warehouse 1, the stone building on the Islay shoreline.
The nose combines thick peat smoke with iodine, tar, vanilla cake and heather honey. On the palate, ashy tar meets Manuka honey and burnt toffee, alongside brine and black pepper. The finish is medium to long, with sea salt, ash and warm spice.
