Laphroaig Càirdeas 2023 is an Islay single malt in a 70cl bottle, bottled at 52.3%. It is a limited edition that combines second-fill Madeira casks with first-fill White Port casks.
The Madeira casks bring smoky, spicy and sweet fruit character, while the Port casks add crisp fruit and a deep woodiness.
The nose offers cinnamon, fresh ginger, green apple, toasted peach and charred orange peel, with caramelised sugar and a hint of bonfire embers. The palate pairs honey sweetness with juicy orange, hazelnut and dark chocolate before earthy, iodine-rich smoke. The finish is sweet and smooth, with earthy peat, creosote and a touch of sea salt.
