Laphroaig – Elements 3.0 Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky (70cl, 55.3%)

Laphroaig Elements 3.0 is a limited-edition Islay single malt, the third release in the Elements series of experimental bottlings. It began when a fire in the distillery's malt kiln burned peat for longer and at a higher temperature than usual. That smokier malt was distilled separately. The whisky was fully matured in American oak ex-bourbon casks and bottled at a cask strength of 55.3% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It carries no age statement. The nose offers charcoal, smouldering peat, dark chocolate, citrus zest, sea salt and butterscotch, with hints of roasted coffee and sea brine. On the palate it is bold and smoky, with roasted cocoa beans, bitter dark chocolate, blackberry, plum, coffee, charred wood and warming spice.
