Laphroaig – Elements 3.0 (70cl, 55.3%)

A limited experimental release from Laphroaig on Islay. It came about after a peat fire in the distillery's malting kiln burned longer and hotter than usual, giving an unusually smoky batch of malt. The highly peated whisky was matured in American oak casks and bottled at cask strength, 55.3% ABV. The nose combines charcoal smoke, chocolate, cinnamon, lemon zest, butterscotch and sea salt. On the palate there is powerful peat smoke with roasted cocoa beans, dark chocolate, blackberry and plum. The finish is lingering, with iodine, leather and intense smoke.
