Laphroaig Elements L 2.0 is a cask-strength Islay single malt at 59.6% ABV and the second release in the experimental Elements series. Matured entirely in first-fill ex-Bourbon barrels, it explores fermentation extended from the distillery's usual 55 hours to 115 hours, using cloudy wort.
Stewed green apple, vanilla custard, orange peel and gentle peat smoke lead the nose. The palate mixes sweet and salty flavours with apple, honey and cream soda, followed by bonfire smoke and smoked seafood. The long, warming finish leaves smoke and a hint of red berries.
