Laphroaig Lore is an Islay single malt bottled at 48% ABV in a 75cl bottle. It carries no age statement, but it marries whiskies aged from seven to 21 years, matured in five cask types including ex-bourbon barrels, European oak, Oloroso sherry casks and quarter casks.
Distillery Manager John Campbell created it in 2016 as a tribute to the people who have handed down Laphroaig's knowledge over the years, and it joined the range as a permanent bottling.
The nose brings pungent peat smoke, seaside minerals, ash and a hint of chocolate. The palate is richly peaty with bitter chocolate, ash and a spicy chilli bite. The finish is short and dry, followed by a long, sweet aftertaste.
