Laphroaig Oak Select is a peated Islay single malt with no age statement, bottled at 40% ABV in a 750ml bottle. It is a vatting of five cask styles: Oloroso sherry butts, Pedro Ximenez-seasoned hogsheads, first-fill bourbon casks including Quarter Casks, and Laphroaig 10 Year Old. The heart of the vatting is given a final maturation in new American oak. The colour is natural, with no caramel added.
Peat comes first on the nose, followed by ripe red fruit, a hint of dryness and floral touches of marzipan and lime. The palate is full-bodied and sweet at first, then dry, peaty and ashy, with a rich finish.
