Laphroaig Oak Select is a peated Islay single malt bottled at 40% ABV, from the distillery founded in 1815. It is made from 100% malted barley and carries no age statement.
Its character comes from a mix of casks: Oloroso sherry butts, Pedro Ximenez sherry hogsheads, first-fill bourbon casks and quarter casks, with a finish in virgin American oak. Peat smoke sits alongside fruit sweetness and oak spice.
The nose is described as peat smoke with ripe red fruit, citrus zest and floral notes. The palate starts sweet with caramel and vanilla before mellow smoke, ash and seaweed. The finish is medium and floral, with a touch of marzipan and lime zest.
