This is a Laphroaig single malt from Islay, bottled at 48% ABV. It matured first in American oak, then in quarter casks, and was finished in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks.
The nose is sherried, with sultanas, a hint of liquorice, seaweed and peat. With a little water, marzipan comes forward, joined by almonds and nuts. The palate has peat and sherry with a touch of smoke, giving way to raisins and nutty notes. The finish is concentrated, with sherry and peat and a deep dryness.
