Quarter Cask is an Islay single malt from Laphroaig in a 70cl bottle. It draws on the old practice of using smaller casks, which give the whisky up to 30% more contact with the wood.
The whisky matures for at least five years, then spends several months in quarter casks.
The colour is bright gold. Coconut, banana, toffee and hazelnut on the nose are soon wrapped in bonfire smoke. The palate is full-bodied, with the smoke returning before sweetness and a salty note come through.
