Laphroaig Quarter Cask is an Islay single malt from the Laphroaig distillery, bottled at 48% in a 750ml bottle. It is non-chill filtered.
The whisky is first matured in ex-bourbon American oak barrels, then moved into American oak quarter casks, roughly a quarter the size of a standard American barrel. The smaller casks bring more contact between spirit and wood.
The nose combines peat smoke with coconut, banana, vanilla and toffee, and a light maritime salinity. The palate is full-bodied and smoky, with a gentle sweetness alongside roasted coffee, tar, mango, passion fruit and pear syrup. The finish is long.
