Laphroaig – Quarter Cask

This is a Laphroaig single malt matured twice in American oak. Whisky from standard ex-bourbon barrels is moved into quarter casks and left to rest in a warehouse close to the Atlantic shore. The smaller casks revive a tradition that had fallen out of use. Their size increases contact with the oak, which adds a soft, velvety edge alongside Laphroaig's distinctive peatiness. The nose is toffee and caramel, from the vanilla and tannins of the American oak, with a dryness from wood oil. The finish is long, moving between sweetness and smoke.
