Laphroaig Quarter Cask is an Islay single malt bottled at 48% in a 70cl bottle. It was first matured in American oak ex-bourbon barrels, then moved into new, purpose-made quarter casks for a final seven to eight months.
The nose opens with chocolate fudge and vanilla-laced peat, then turns more seaweedy and oceanic, with a hint of peppermint. The palate is soft and slightly oily at first, building to sweet smoke, salt, pepper, iodine and vanilla. The finish is long and dry, with cocoa, peat and baked citrus.
