Laphroaig Select is an Islay single malt made by blending whiskies from several kinds of cask. Master Distiller John Campbell chose malts matured in Oloroso sherry, American white oak that has not held bourbon, Pedro Ximenez, Quarter Cask and first-fill ex-bourbon wood.
It is bottled without added colouring, and the mix of maturations adds depth to Laphroaig's peaty character.
The nose combines peat and medicinal notes with soft citrus and coconut. The palate is full-bodied and gently sweet, with peat, lemon, green apple and mint, and a touch of spice. The finish is long and dry, with balanced smoke and spice.
