Lapostolle Cuvée Alexandre Atalayas Vineyard Chardonnay 2008 Casablanca Valley (75cl)

This is a single-vineyard white wine from Lapostolle's Cuvée Alexandre range, made from 100% Chardonnay grown at the Atalayas Vineyard in Chile's coastal Casablanca Valley. The 2008 grapes were picked by hand in the early mornings, from late March into April, and collected in small 15kg cases. In the cellar, 40% of the fruit was whole-cluster pressed and 60% macerated in the press. Some 54% of the wine fermented in French barrels and 46% in stainless steel, with no malolactic fermentation, to keep it elegant and fresh. The nose shows sweet citrus, white flowers, tropical fruit and sweet spice. The palate is round and elegant with lively acidity, bringing pineapple, papaya, honey and toasted notes, and the finish is long with a hint of hazelnut.
