A 12-year-old Ledaig bottled by Gordon & MacPhail for its Discovery range, where it represents the smoky style of single malt, at 43%. Smoked meat and wood smoke lead, balanced by fresh citrus and chocolaty malt.
Peat smoke on the nose opens to maple-cured meat, toffee and baked apples, with seaside grasses and a gentle briny edge. The palate brings stewed fruit, sultanas and currants alongside milk chocolate and crème brûlée, with toffee, bursts of citrus and a smouldering bonfire-ember edge. Oak lingers in the finish before soft citrus appears.
