This is a 16 year old Ledaig, the heavily peated malt made at Tobermory on the Isle of Mull. It was distilled in 2009 and bottled in 2026 by Murray McDavid at 57.5%, non-chill-filtered and without added colour, in a 70cl bottle.
The whisky matured first in bourbon casks, then spent its last four years in red wine barriques from Quinta dos Frades in Portugal's Douro Valley. It combines casks 2201176 and 2201178 and yields 589 bottles. It forms part of the Benchmark series.
The nose offers dried cranberries, violets and cured meat. On the palate come coastal peat, dark chocolate and berries, and the finish brings sweet spices, fruity malt and cigar leaf.
