This is a heavily peated single malt from Ledaig, the smoky style made at Tobermory distillery on the Isle of Mull. It matures first in ex-bourbon casks, then in specially selected Spanish Rioja wine casks.
It was the first release in the Sinclair Series, which commemorates the distillery's founder, John Sinclair. It is bottled at 46.3% in a 70cl bottle, without chill-filtration or added colour.
The nose opens with Turkish delight, rose petals, candied fruit and grapes, then leather and peppery spice. The palate is creamy, with almonds, barley and sweet malt, moving to black raspberries, vanilla and cocoa. Smoke lasts into the finish, with red fruit and a salty note of sea spray.
