Ledaig Sinclair Series Rioja Wine Cask Finish is a peated single malt from Tobermory Distillery on the Isle of Mull, bottled at 43.6% ABV. It belongs to the Sinclair Series, a line given over to cask finishes.
After maturing in oak, the spirit spent a second period in former Rioja wine barriques. The Spanish oak adds red fruit and gentle spice to Ledaig's peat smoke, coastal salinity and malt sweetness.
On the nose, peat smoke and sea spray sit alongside red cherry, plum compote and warm spice. The palate moves from peat and brine to blackcurrant, red plum and cocoa, and the finish is long, with smoky spice and gently tannic red fruit.
