This is a 12-year-old Ledaig, the heavily peated single malt made at Tobermory on the Isle of Mull. It was bottled by independent bottler Rare Find at 56.5% in a 70cl bottle.
The whisky was matured in refill American oak. Maritime flavours run through it, along with herbal pine needles and a touch of orange peel.
The nose offers waves of peat, pine needles and a touch of aniseed. On the palate, barbecue smoke is balanced by orange peel, a little menthol and strawberries. The finish is a mix of peat smoke and spice.
