Legent is a bourbon made by Jim Beam master distiller Fred Noe together with Shinji Fukuyo, chief blender at House of Suntory. It is bottled at 47% in a 75cl bottle.
The base is a bourbon made to one of Fred Noe's recipes and aged first in charred virgin white oak. Portions are then finished in California red wine casks and sherry casks before Shinji Fukuyo blends them.
The nose combines brown sugar, toasted almonds, jammy fruit, butterscotch, vanilla and orange peel, with ginger warmth. The palate is silky, with caramel, marmalade, rye spice, roasted peanuts, dark cherry jam and stewed plums. The finish holds chocolate-covered cherries, black fruits, liquorice, nutmeg and oak spice.
